With the Christmas season upon us, it’s important that our health doesn’t go on holiday. What you eat, drink, and think are all choices that can positively impact your health. “My intent at Abundant Life Chiropractic is to help you feel, see, and know that your life, and the lives of your family members, will be so much better with a high value on health,” said Dr Nick Stott (Chiropractor).
Dr Stott shares some tips to help you enjoy the season and keep good health intact:
- Eat less – opt for smaller meals and wait about 20 minutes after to see if you are still hungry, before eating more
- Drink no or significantly less alcohol
- Don’t smoke
- Avoid soft drinks
- Consume less milk and dairy
- Hydrate with lots of water and less caffeinated drinks
- Subtract added sugar
- Add more fruits and vegetables
- Eat less meat (if you eat lots of it)
- Move much more (walk daily for over 30 minutes fast paced)
- Lift some weights, resistive bands, or body weight (if your job is not physical)
New Year, New You
How would you like to improve your health in the New Year? Now’s a great time to write down your goals. The reason why so many people don’t keep their resolutions is that their goals are unrealistic and unsustainable. By making small, sustainable goals, you can take great strides towards optimising your health.
Here are some ideas:
Move more
Look for outdoor activities that are free and involve fitness. Here are some ideas: ride your bike, walk in nature, take a stroll in the city along the waterfront, or enjoy a lovely beach walk. If you have a desk job, get up about every 30 minutes to walk around or stretch.
Mind your mind
Practicing gratitude is one of the best ways to have a positive mindset. Focus on all the good things in your life. It’s also important to calm your mind, just as you need to relax your body. After all, your body needs to be worked and repaired, and so does your mind.
Get adjusted
Natural chiropractic care helps keep your nervous system healthy, so you can feel your best.
